The Go Dharmic 2021 Challenge is to climb Mt Snowdon, the highest peak in Wales. At an elevation of 1,085 meters above sea level, Snowdon is the highest point in the British Isles outside the Scottish Highlands. It is located in Snowdonia National Park in Gwynedd.

There are 6 routes to the top and depending on the weather and our fitness, we will finalise the exact route nearer the event. They are all classed as ‘hard, strenuous walks’ and you should allow at least 6 – 8 hours to get there and back.

Mountains are fickle things. What starts off as a sunny day at the bottom can rapidly turn into ice-cold winds, heavy rain, and thick mist halfway up. There is usually a chilly breeze at the summit – welcome on a hot day, but not quite as pleasant in the rain. Be prepared for drastic changes in the weather and have the right kit with you.

Kit List for the Walk

  • Ankle supporting walking boots (no trainers/flip flops)
  • Comfy walking socks. Look after your feet, they’ll be working hard!
  • Walking trousers. Zip offs are good in the summer, and in colder months go for insulated ones
  • Go for layers – moisture-wicking t-shirt, long-sleeved top, and a fleece. Waterproofs, even on a sunny day. You never know
  • Poncho (Optional)
  • Hat and sunglasses for sunny days, warm hat, gloves and a scarf for cold weather
  • Day Rucksack (at least 25 l)
  • First aid essentials (Compeed pack, Vaseline, Lip Balm, and any personal medication)
  • Food: High Energy snacks plus lunch
  • Plenty to drink
  • Antiseptic Hand Wash/Wipes/Tissues
  • Waterproof liners (to keep day rucksack contents dry)
  • Walking Poles (Optional)
  • Gaiters (Optional)

Although there is a cafeteria at the top where you can buy bottled water and food,  self-sufficiency is the order of the day
