Our Children’s Summer Feeding Project has just wrapped up.
Over the course of 5 weeks, in collaboration with Bloomsbury Football Foundation and Akshaya Patra, we delivered hot meals to disadvantaged children who were participating in summer charity football training.
In total, 2,200 meals were provided with over 500 children (aged between 7 and 15) benefiting.
The meals were beautiful and nutritious vegetarian meals, freshly prepared by our partners the Akshaya Patra Foundation.
“Everything was great! Thank you! Lots of the kids even wanted a second portion.” noted Ellie at Capital City Academy.
Adam, one of the drivers, said “When speaking to the children, they really enjoyed the food.”
He later added that “it was a very enjoyable experience working for Go Dharmic as well as Akshaya Patra, not only because of the good people involved, but also it is satisfying knowing the fact that you are working towards a philanthropic cause.”
The meals were delivered to disadvantaged children participating in the football training at 4 locations: Harris Academy, Market Road, Westway Sports Centre, and Capital City Academy.
The sports and football activities were set up by Bloomsbury Football Foundation, who run holiday courses for children from poorer backgrounds, getting them outdoors and active, and helping them socially flourish.
This was a complex but fulfilling project. However, the significance of it was clear as the kids just couldn’t contain their excitement. We saw them running around, jumping the queues, and coming back for second helpings.
One commenter even went as far as to say “the children aren’t used to this sort of kindness.”
Sacha Voynot, who coordinated and oversaw the project, said: “Making children smile is always a very rewarding experience. This project was a fantastic opportunity for Go Dharmic to support local communities in North London during these difficult times. I am very proud that I have been involved and played a key role within Go Dharmic to make this possible.”
We can only perform such great projects because of the ongoing support of our donors, and in the face of the UK Living Crisis our work has never been more needed.
To help us continue to “improve the well-being of communities” with our #FeedEveryone #FeedingProject why not make a donation.
