April 2019 Update: 30 Libraries Complete

It’s been a busy month for the Go Dharmic management team and volunteers and I wanted to give you all an update.
Our team in India has received their long-awaited 80G Certificate from the Indian Tax Authority which will allow us to grow much faster on the ground in India. This was a hugely time-consuming process, but fortunately, we can focus on our mission!

We are currently in the process of setting up our India HQ in Ahmedabad, Gujarat which will serve as an operational office and as a place for people to come and learn about the work GD has achieved till date through your commitment and hard work. We look forward to welcoming you all there!

There is lot’s in store for the coming months as schools open back up in India and we will be developing Libraries again close to regional offices of our fantastic partners Futures First. We have a great ambition to help develop underprivileged facilities and to this end, we will be solving one major social issue at each of the schools we are providing libraries. This may be a new toilet, a water tank, or a fence around the school to protect the children from outside interference.

We are aiming to complete our 50th Library the 31st December 2019 and look for all of your support and effort to help make this dream a reality. This would not be possible without Futures First, Futures for Kids, FICCI and River Island.

From the UK, the feeding projects are going from strength to strength. We aim to prevent food waste and provide meals to the homeless. This week we fed over 350 people with Hot freshly cooked meals by both restaurants and volunteers both new and old. Dee Pindoria and Arti Patel have been instrumental in making this happen in the UK. I’m continuously amazed at how much people are prepared to give for a good cause. Fusion restaurant in Luton has been cooking Hot meals for our underprivileged friends every week for months. Papa J’s has also been a great supporter. Supermarkets and food chains including Tescos, Greggs, Eat, Bhavins Cash and Carry have all been using Go Dharmic as an outlet to generously serve and distribute meals to the underprivileged. We have also received support from Nationwide bank for our food distribution program. Press release to follow.

We have over 30 Whatsapp groups operating local GD communities and I would urge you to reach out to us, join a local chapter and join a team of local volunteers who wish to make an impact in their community. I firmly believe that It is only through our collective compassion and effort that we will make any tangible impact.

More than anything else, I wish to profoundly thank Anil Batra, Elad Hertshten and everyone at Futures First for providing the impetus for Go Dharmic to develop as a volunteer organisation greatly impact the lives of the underprivileged. Let’s do some great work together.

As always, any inspiring thoughts, suggestions, ideas, feedback, please send me an email directly on hemal@godharmicstag.wpenginepowered.com
