Day 2 of The Salt Ride 2024 was a journey of devot

Day 2 of The Salt Ride 2024 was a journey of devotion and inspiration. The riders flagged off from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, carrying forward the spirit of Gandhi’s teachings, and made their way to Nadiad, covering 74kms.

In Nadiad, they visited the Santram Ashram, a home to Shree Santram Maharaj. It is said that Shree Santram Maharaj came to Nadiad from Girnar so that he was known as Girnar Bawa, Vidhay Baava or Sukh-Sagji. Shree Santram Maharaj came here in 1872, lived for 15 years as a spiritual remedy, and took Samadhi on the full moon day of 1887.

Here, our riders had the opportunity to meet with students from the ashram’s school, together, they performed the soulful bhajan “Shri Ramchandra Kripalu Bhajman”—a timeless hymn dedicated to Shri Ram.

With hearts full and spirits high, the riders embraced the road ahead, united in their resolve to make a difference.

A Journey from needing support to Self-Sufficiency

A Journey from needing support to Self-Sufficiency with Go Dharmic

After arriving in the UK from India to pursue his studies, this young man found himself in challenging circumstances.

With limited resources and no immediate job prospects, he turned to Go Dharmic for support, receiving warm meals and a sense of community during a difficult time in Luton.

Grateful for the kindness he experienced, he decided to give back, volunteering every Monday with our team in Luton.

His commitment and compassion shone as he collected food donations from local partners, including Papa Js Tapas, where his life took an inspiring turn.

While volunteering at the restaurant, his dedication didn’t go unnoticed.

The amazing team at Papa J’s offered him a job, transforming his journey from a struggling beneficiary to an empowered individual who now supports himself—and continues to give back to others.

This story exemplifies the heart of Dharma: kindness, service, and transformation.

It’s a testament to the power of community and the profound impact of helping others.

Together, we are creating ripples of compassion and uplifting lives.

This is Dharma in action.

With food prices rising globally and nearly 50 mil

With food prices rising globally and nearly 50 million people facing severe shortages across 45 countries, the need to serve is greater than ever.

We believe the world has enough food and good hearts to ensure no one goes hungry. This past Saturday in Leicester, we distributed 450+ meals and drinks to people in need. Our volunteers unite to spread love, share food, and create impact.

In the last two years, the GD community has served 5 million meals—and there’s so much more to do! A heartfelt thank you to our amazing supporters and volunteers for making this possible. Let’s keep this mission going.

A Great Milestone as Go Dharmic's Dharma Forest In

A Great Milestone as Go Dharmic's Dharma Forest Initiative wins at Climate Action Championship.

This weekend, we celebrated a truly wonderful moment —our Dharma Forest Initiative has been honored with a Climate Action Championship Award at an event hosted by the British Deputy High Commission in Kolkata.

Go Dharmic earned the highest score, an impressive of 90 out of 100, reflecting the unwavering commitment to reforesting the Sundarbans. Bhisma Dass accepted the award and presented the Dharma Forest to an audience including Kevin Goh Deputy Consul of the Australian High Commission, and Deputy High Commissioner Dr Andrew Fleming

Between 2013 and 2017, the devastating floods in West Bengal claimed 1,012 lives and caused millions of dollars of damages. Hanuman Dass, Founder of Go Dharmic in 2020 gave the vision for the Dharma Forest project to restore the natural protection to the villagers and wildlife of the region whilst increasing biodiversity in the fight against climate change. The Dharma Forest has become more than a project—it has become a promise to restore, reforest and to rebuild hope for generations to come.

So far, we have planted 250,000 mangrove trees across the region and this is just the beginning. Together, we’re working toward planting 2 million mangroves by 2026, creating a shield against future floods and giving life back to these lands.

This award is for our women workers who tirelessly lead the Dharma forest and work alongside our teams to restore the mangroves and protect our environment.

This is our climate action and call for making peace with nature. Every tree we plant restores not just the land but hope and resilience for vulnerable communities. Let’s rebuild what was lost—one tree at a time.

I’m really looking forward to it—it’s a great opportunity to experience the real India by traveling through towns and villages not often visited by tourists. This journey will be a wonderful experience with a group of people united in their vision of supporting Go Dharmic.”

“Go Dharmic is an excellent charity, inspired by the ideals of Ahimsa—peaceable and non-violent change. The route we’re following, the Salt March, was a direct precursor to Martin Luther King Jr.’s March on Washington, which was inspired by Gandhian ideals exemplified in the Salt March.”

“This Salt Ride is a challenge for me. I’m 75 years old, and apart from one practice run, I’ve never cycled outside the UK or for more than half a day at one time. Yet here I am, ready to travel across Gujarat for a week. I’ve been training, I’m up for it, and maybe some of you will be joining me too. It’s going to be so good!” - Barry

At 75 years young, Barry is gearing up for an adventure for compassion! —He will be cycling across Gujarat, tracing the historic route of Gandhi’s Salt March.
