On the 19th of October 2019, some members of the Go Dharmic family in Luton hosted a party to celebrate Diwali at the Play Football at Stopsley High School in Luton. It was a fantastic evening of great food, entertainment and fundraising, a huge thank you to the just under 100 attendees who joined them on the night.
The evening was organized by Urshna Aiyer, Bhavesh Tailor. Manoj Rajgor and Ajay Shah, who all put a huge amount of effort into organizing, which showed as it was a great party. The group came up with the idea for the party whilst training for the Snowdon climb, and started planning as soon as they had tackled the mountain!
They then decided that as the winter months are approaching, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to serve food with the temperamental British weather getting in the way! Therefore, all the money raised from the raffle will go towards them buying a gazebo to protect them from the rain, sleet, snow, and wind.
The food at the party was kindly donated by both friends, family, and local restaurants, a huge thank you to them it was very well received by all of the guests who were full of compliments for the food. A special thank you to Bhavin’s Cash and Carry, Hassan Catering Luton, Luton Istanbul Shwarma and Alankar Restaurant, for supporting the event.
The evening was a huge success with £670 raised from the raffle, and the team will be able to purchase a gazebo to keep them dry during the winter for the years to come.
Raffle prizes included, tickets to a T20 cricket match, a £100 gift voucher, meal vouchers, beauty vouchers, and other items. Thank you to Northamptonshire County Cricket Club, Fusion Restaurant, Papa J’s, Serene Souls, Imperial Garden Services, Nita Sarees, Giftique Luton, Costcutter Alder Crescent, Pit Lane Garage and A-Z Auto Spares for donating raffle items!
We hope that we can make the Go Dharmic Luton Diwali Party an annual event, thank you to everyone for making it so amazing this year, there was so much support and effort from the local businesses and friends and family. The party went on until 1.30 am with the help of DJ Mandeep!
To all those who are celebrating Diwali, from all of us at Go Dharmic, Happy Diwali and a Happy New Year!
