Introduction
On the eve of World Yoga Day, a remarkable event unfolded, bringing together kindred spirits and fostering a deep sense of connection and compassion. Hanuman Dass and Eddie Stern wove a tapestry of stories, discussions, and celebrated chants that resonated with the essence of devotion, service, and compassion.
How it Started: The Power of Compassion and Dharma
The evening began with a contemplation on the profound concept of compassion and dharma. Hanuman and Eddie shared their wisdom, guiding the audience to the heart space, where kindness and empathy find their home. They illuminated the path toward a fulfilled and interconnected life, both inwardly and in relation to the wider world.
According to the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, practising compassion, known as karuna, brings forth clarity and serenity to the mind. It entails a shared feeling that enables us to be present with pain and inspires us to take action to alleviate suffering.
Exploring Forgiveness and Self-Compassion
Forgiveness, the ultimate expression of compassion, was explored deeply, but the true test of compassion lay in extending it to oneself through self-compassion.
Eddie Stern: A Yoga Advocate and Humanitarian
Eddie Stern, a renowned yoga instructor, author, and researcher from New York City, graced the event with his presence. He shared his vast experience in yoga and his engagement in non-profit work, providing yoga access to underserved youth in public education and those at risk of gun violence in inner cities. His commitment to studying yoga research and managing the Broome Street Ganesh Temple in NYC reflected his dedication to sharing the diverse branches of yoga.
Hanuman Dass: The Journey of Compassion in Action
Hanuman Dass, the founder and Chair of Go Dharmic, captivated the audience with his journey of compassion in action. Go Dharmic, an international humanitarian movement, was born out of a small act of feeding the homeless in London. What started as a small group of friends distributing fruit has now blossomed into a global movement, with over 10,000 volunteers in more than 180 locations worldwide. Through their energetic campaign, they have distributed over 20 million meals to vulnerable individuals, upholding their mission to “Love All. Feed All. Serve All.”
World Yoga Day: A Catalyst for Positive Change
With World Yoga Day serving as a backdrop for this enlightening event, participants were reminded of their collective responsibility to act for the welfare of all. Inspired by the concept of Dharma, Go Dharmic strives to create a world where individuals can unite to bring about positive change in their lives and communities.

A Lasting Impression of Compassion and Service
This special evening of compassion, service, and devotion left a lasting impression on all who attended. The teachings, discussions, and shared moments of connection served as catalysts for inner transformation and a deeper understanding of the power of compassion in action. It reminded us that by cultivating compassion and embracing selfless service, we can truly make a positive difference in the world.
