RPC team spend their volunteering day with Go Dharmic in London

volunteering day with Go Dharmic in London

On April 4th, 2023, executives from the law firm, RPC, took part in a Go Dharmic workshop and volunteer day. The event explored Go Dharmic’s ethos of “Love All. Feed All. Serve All.” and how as individuals and corporations we can help people through the cost of living crisis

The day began with an engaging talk by Go Dharmic Founder, Hanuman Dass, on the principles and practical application of dharma in the 21st century. Hanuman Dass emphasised the importance of balance in one’s inner and outer life, and how principles such as ahimsa (non-harming) and seva (selfless service) can reverse and resolve global threats like climate change and food insecurity.

After the talk, the group participated in an Ayurvedic cooking workshop led by Go Dharmic partner, Om Nom. Founded on the idea of prevention being better than cure, the workshop revealed how to make environmentally-friendly, low-cost, nutritious meals, something that we advocate at Go Dharmic.

In a time where so many jump at expensive, unhealthy, and climate damaging takeaways, this was a fabulous way of bringing the executives into a world of plant-based, clean eating, home cooking, and compassionate living.

The group then went on to serve in-person at the GD London food distribution and talk to those struggling with the cost of living. They served over 300 beneficiaries and had the opportunity to connect with them on a personal level. This was a unique and profound experience for the group, as they were able to see the impact of their work firsthand and feel the bond of community.

One of the executives commented that the hands-on approach at the distribution was a departure from prior volunteering days they had attended, and was thought-provoking. They appreciated the opportunity to connect with beneficiaries face-to-face and develop their emotional and ethical intelligence through real charity.

The day was an intense immersion into mindfulness, compassion, emotional growth, and practical social action. The attendees gained valuable insights that will have a lasting positive impact on their personal and professional lives.
The event showcased Go Dharmic’s continuing mission to create a Loving community in the world today.
