CYCLE THE GO DHARMIC SALT RIDE WITH US!

    December 17, 2019

The Go Dharmic Salt Ride will take place from the 17th to the 22nd of December. A group of Go Dharmic volunteers will be cycling the famous route that Gandhi and his followers took to protest the British tax on salt, and you could join them!

When Gandhi originally walked the route it took him 24 days, and he walked 384 km southward from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi, passing many coastal villages along the way. For our Salt Ride, we will take the same route by bike, however, it will take us 6 days. Cyclists will be provided with everything they need, including accommodation, bikes, food, mechanics and support vehicles.

Whilst walking the route, in 1930, Gandhi told all the people that he met along the way that salt can easily be made by evaporating seawater. People began to make salt using this method, and the British saw huge decreases in their wealth. This walk and his peaceful protest are in alignment with 3 of our 8 principles of dharma, peace, truth and not harming. This year it was the 150th anniversary of Gandhi’s birth, the cycle will be a celebration of his birth and everything that he achieved during his life, whilst making a stand for our planet!

At the end of the route, we will be launching our new campaign ‘Give It A Grow’. This campaign will be promoting, funding and hosting tree plantations worldwide. As global warming and climate change are becoming increasingly noticeable, it is clear that we need to act now to try and revert the damage we have done, we hope to do this by running the campaign.
