Cycle Over 300 Km from Ahmedabad to Dandi!

Salt Ride 2019 Banners

In December, a group of 30 Go Dharmic friends and volunteers will be cycling 380 km from Ahmedabad to Dandi with the hope to spread the Go Dharmic message. The cycle will also be taking place to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth, therefore the cyclists will be cycling the famous route that Gandhi took with his followers in 1930!

We believe that everyone should make small changes to their lifestyles which can have a huge impact on the planet and our environment.  We want a clean and green environment and are cycling for a reduction in single-use plastics, the planting of trees globally, a stand against waste and pollution.

We are taking a stand for our planet!

At Go Dharmic, we often refer to Gandhi’s teachings when planning for campaigns and projects, therefore we think it is only right to celebrate his birth anniversary in this way as he is a huge inspiration to us.

The Salt March began as a peaceful protest by Gandhi and his followers against the British and their rules over the Indian citizens. The Indians were not allowed to produce or sell their own salt, which was a big industry at the time. When Gandhi was on the walk, he rebelled against unjust rules, and he and his followers evaporated seawater in order to make salt. His actions led to a huge change in the way that people thought and acted, and we hope to do the same. We hope you will join us for this cycling adventure of a lifetime.

The route that will be followed will take 6 days to complete, and will largely follow the path that Gandhi walked himself.

The volunteers taking part are traveling from all over the world to take part in the cycle, we have people traveling from Europe and Asia to Ahmedabad. Whilst cycling the route they will be visiting some of the historic towns that Gandhi visited on the route, where he was welcomed by crowds of supporters. And when in these cities we hope to educate anyone we meet about how we can save our planet from the dangers of climate change and global warming.
