With India’s push to create a ‘knowledge society’ as a model for development in the 21st century, creating libraries has gained traction. Public and community libraries, in particular, have a role to play in furthering literacy and promoting human capacity development for marginalised communities in India. The support for early education has a definite socio-cultural appeal and may be justifiable towards other development goals beyond literacy improvements.
Go Dharmic has been active in developing libraries for underprivileged populations, primarily in government schools and slums. Go Dharmic’s vision to inspire compassion in action and selfless service around the world and to equip all with knowledge and practical knowledge to reduce suffering is behind the thought of creating these learning spaces.
In 2015 Go Dharmic launched it’s Shape A Future movement across India by opening up libraries in remote areas which primarily had schools lacking in basic reading materials. We have taken the initiative to develop safe, modern learning spaces for a million underprivileged children worldwide, primarily in India. We are on a mission to establish 2,000 safe, modern learning spaces making a difference in the lives of a million children by 2026. The first GD library was in a small town named Guna, Madhya Pradesh and today, it completed the milestone of 100 libraries across the country. Go Dharmic is creating bright, fun, comfortable learning spaces for children, which they can call their own. Small & rural towns like Alwar, Guniya Lekh, and Kushmoda in India now have a place to learn basic literacy, thanks to our Shape A Future campaign with its sponsors and partners.
We have till date provided 1,000s of books, chairs, tables, carpets, book stands, carpets and sports equipment to schools. Consider this as our collective Dharma and help us to make this a massive success by providing all assistance to raise better citizens through quality education for all.
‘”Futures First is proud to be associated with Go Dharmic in their common endeavour to serve society and improve lives. The unconditional and selfless work being done at the grassroots level by Go Dharmic for the welfare of underprivileged sections of society is appreciable and truly reflects their motto, ‘Compassion In Action.”
